Fixed Term Appointment for 12 months

Applications are invited for two Research Assistant positions within the Intelligent Systems and Networks Research Group, Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. The positions are available on an EPSRC-funded project about Energy Savings in Information and Communication Technologies under the supervision of Professor Erol Gelenbe.

The project aims at understanding the manner in which energy can be dynamically managed in computer systems and networks so as to optimize savings, through the interaction between energy storage, energy harvesting, and the signaling and control of energy flows based on needs and demand.

Applicants should hold a Master of Science (or equivalent) in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Science/Computing or mathematics. They should be p roficient in advanced communications, including industrial standards and practices, and performance modeling using networks of queues and related methods. Knowledge of Wireless Communications, Mobile devices and Radio Systems is a plus. Familiarity with system measurements both at the hardware and software level, and detailed knowledge of network standards and routing will be needed. You will be expected to participate in and contribute to advanced theoretical and practical research.
