DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position is responsible for determining and developing effective approaches for resolving a wide range of difficult engineering problems in the EMS Test and Evaluation group.
Additional Responsibilities are as follows:
Develops concepts and plans for test programs
Creates and updates test procedures and assists sub contractors in design and execution of various tests on high power system electronics
May translate product requirements into verification tests instructions
Lead efforts to install and set-up instrumentation at the sites to log data and execute the tests as directed by the Test Director / Manager
Takes a lead role when needed to execute and direct subsystem and system test operations
Troubleshoots the tests as needed and interprets collected data for preparation and creation of test reports
Works closely with the customer and subcontractors at the test site to execute the test and will play a key role in providing statuses on the test progress
Participates in establishing design concepts, criteria and engineering efforts for testing
Some travel to the test sites located in, but not limited to, New Jersey, Southern California, Virginia and Mississippi is also required
Performs other duties as assigned or required
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; four or more years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree or two or more years of experience with a Master’s degree
May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education
An understanding of engineering concepts, principles, codes, and theory; experience demonstrating a broad application of those concepts is required
Good computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project) and good communication skills (Verbal and written) is required
Must be: (1) customer focused; (2) able to work on a self-initiated basis or in a team environment; and, (3) able to work extended hours and travel as required
Must possess excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
May be required to obtain and maintain a US security clearance
Working knowledge of High Power Electrical Systems and Large Scale Mechanical Systems with experience conducting environmental and E3/EMI testing and operating these types of systems is preferred
Hands-on experience with power electronic equipment is a plus
Writing technical documents such as test procedures and test reports is a plus
Having a desire to work in a fast-paced testing environment is preferred
