As part of the Devices & Applications team within TELUS’ Technology Strategy & Operations (TSO) group, the Strategy Manager will work directly with a number of internal stakeholders across TSO, focusing primarily on wireless products and application services. The primary responsibility of this position is completing analysis and recommendations for inclusion in presentations to the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) of TSO, as well as occasional cross-functional presentations to joint TSO/TCS (TELUS Customer Solutions) SLT meetings. The analyses and recommendations will be presented to top executives who include the Executive Vice President of TSO and TELUS’ Chief Technology Officer (CTO). The successful candidate will work collaboratively and proactively with various groups in the TSO organization, as well as with marketing and operations teams within TELUS Customer Solutions.
Complete analysis and recommendations to the executive team on key topics related to Wireless Devices (Wireless Device Program, Wireless Device Performance Program, Mobile Platform Ecosystem)
Develop extensive total cost of ownership models for wireless devices and mobile applications
Proactively identify areas of opportunity (enhancements to programs for operational efficiencies, customer satisfaction, market leadership vs. competition)
Ensure professional and high quality recommendations are presented at all levels
Sound knowledge of the telecommunications industry which include but are not limited to:
Consumer and business segments
Competitors and suppliers
Wireless trends, in particular mobile platforms
Familiarity with consulting practices to:
Structure a project with clear timelines and deliverables
Engage stakeholders for support and alignment on approach and recommendations
Develop recommendations based on scenario analysis
Required Skills & Abilities:
Strategic thinker and ability to execute in a creative manner
Excellent oral and written skills; strong presentation skills; ability to communicate at an executive level
Excellent problem-solving and decision making skills with the ability to base decision making on sound financial and market assessments
Strong leadership capabilities to manage matrixed teams for short projects
Strong business acumen skills
Ability to work independently and drive results
Ability to embrace continuous learning and proactively seek opportunities for continuous learning and growth
Required Professional Designation/Certification:
Business degree or other degree with related experience
MBA an asset
4 – 7 years of business experience
Strategy development and analysis
Telecommunications Industry experience
