TELUS is looking for a
telecommunications technician to join our team. The successful candidate will perform
installation and repair functions related to voice and data network services at business customers’ premises.
Install, diagnose, and repair Customer Premise business voice and data services and applications
Explain/discuss details regarding progress, issues, applicable charges and promote products and services
Provide & update details on the work completed
Prepare time and expense reports
Prepare and present technical presentations and reports
RESULTS OR OUTCOMES:
Work is performed to meet company quality standards within defined time requirements
Administration responsibilities are completed accurately and timely
Knowledge of network architecture and elements.
In-depth working knowledge of Nortel/Avaya blue products including the CSD1K
Experience in any of the following areas would be an asset:
Installation, maintenance, or testing /analysis of network elements (hardware and software)
Supplemental working knowledge of one or more of network elements (e.g. CISCO, Siemens, Lucent, Alcatel, Nokia, DACS)
Knowledge and experience of LAN and WAN networks.
Working knowledge of outside and inside plant facilities.
Must be willing and able to work aloft.
Must be willing and able to work in confined spaces.
Normal colour vision to work with colour-coded wiring.
Ability to manage a physically demanding workload.
Must be willing to work in any weather conditions.
Working knowledge of network technology, architecture and elements, and a strong understanding of their associated interworkings
Working knowledge of circuit wiring, transmission parameters and testing
Working knowledge of automated provisioning, ticketing, testing and dispatch systems
Working knowledge of maintenance practices / routines on network elements
Knowledge and experience of repair practices, policies, and procedures
Must be able to operate hand and power tools, and test equipment
Must be able to understand and effectively perform work in accordance with published work plans
Must have a Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
Must be willing to work in locations that preclude your ability to return home each day, on an as required basis
Must follow safe work practices and abide by all safety rules and regulations
Must be willing and able to work various shifts as assigned (such as evenings, weekends and statutory holidays), based on business needs.
Must possess Personal Computer navigational skills
Demonstrated professional oral and written communications skills
Fluent in English
Self-motivated, work well with minimal or no direct supervision
Ability to effectively handle both favourable and unfavourable customer interactions
Demonstrated ability to identify problems and situations, take appropriate action, implement solutions or escalate as required
Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaboratively with other departments
Maintain a high level of performance under the pressure of time constraints and a fast-paced changing environment
Demonstrated ability in planning and organizing to meet scheduled deadlines
Commit to continuous learning. Demonstrate the ability to learn and apply learned skills to related situations and complete and pass all related exams
Must meet applicable testing requirements
