Senior Software Engineer, Cambridge
We are searching for a Senior Software Engineer to join our clientÃ¢ s team and to develop software for wireless chips.
The candidate will take ownership of a major software component of a project and will be responsible for delivering the software on a timescale agreed with the group leader/programme manager. This role involves the mentoring of junior members of the team.
In this role the candidate will be expected to work primarily on PHY firmware development for WLAN and as needed on other wireless technologies.
Interactions are to be expected with other parts of design, firmware, and software engineers to define, architect, and implement features for WLAN.
We are searching for a Senior Software Engineer with the following profile:
Good academic background
Excellent proven understanding of programming languages including C in a commercial environment
Good understanding of Signal Processing and Communications
PHY and DSP Firmware Development at the register level
Excellent understanding of software design techniques
Experience in MAC and networking protocols, especially wireless networking protocols, is desirable.
Understanding of wireless communication protocols such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, UWB, GSM or UMTS
An understanding of:
Signal processing and Communications
Algorithmic, Modem and RF Calibration requirements
Implementing fixed point C
Understanding of debug techniques
Understanding of software architecture
Experienced in designing for optimal code and data memory in an embedded environment
Good understanding of configuration management
Experience of scripting such as Perl, python or shell scripts.
Handling LAB Equipment and Real time Debug and Verification will be a plus
Understanding of processor architectures and peripherals will be a plus
