Senior Scientist & Program Manager
Employment is with the Research Foundation for SUNY, a private, nonprofit, educational corporation that administers sponsored program activity for the University at Albany. Description of Duties: The Senior Scientist & Program Manager will be physically located at CNSE-Ts Smart System Technology and Commercialization Center in the Rochester, NY area. This position provides technical expertise and program management to fabrication and packaging operations. The duties of this position will include, but not be limited to: Work with government and businesses to obtain funding for technical and scientific programs building on STC-Ts core technology (MEMS processes and design). Perform Mechanical and electrical design of MEMS devices and systems (ex: accelerometers, energy harvesters, pressure sensors, wireless motes, etc.). Use Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for mechanical and electrical MEMS components and other mathematical modeling tools. Test the mechanical and electrical performance of MEMS devices and systems. Write proposals and detailed technical reports for programs. Create and deliver technical presentations to customers. Work well with scientists, engineers, and technicians in a product and process development team environment. Maintains a working knowledge of safety policies and regulations to ensure duties of self and others are performed in a safe manner. Other reasonable duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: Master”s degree from a college or university in a technical, MEMS-related engineering field (Micro-E, Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical, Materials Science, or Physics) accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization; AND a minimum of 10 years industry-related experience focused in Program Management AND minimum of 5 years experience in MEMS design. Familiarity with MEMS process equipment. Must be capable of doing FEA and mathematical analysis of MEMS devices prior to fabrication. Local/Regional Travel required. Candidates must address in their application their abilities to work with a culturally diverse population. Notes: Position contingent on the availability of funding
