Due to continued growth, Cowan Systems, LLC has a Senior Network Engineer position available in our corporate office located in Halethorpe, Maryland. The IT Department is seeking a network systems professional with 4 -6 years of proven networking experience in high-availability, multi-site, geographically diverse 24 x 7 environments. The candidate will be very self-motivated and have impeccable attention to detail, strong documentation and communication skills as well as demonstrated experience operating in a complex data center. The Senior Network Engineer reports to the Manager of Network Operations.
Assist with the design, deployment and support of enterprise-wide infrastructure systems such as physical & virtual servers, remote access, storage, routers, switches, firewalls and disaster recovery.
Administration and troubleshooting of the Citrix XenApp farm and related systems.
Review server application, security and system logs and other relevant monitoring tools.
Support and maintain server and Active Directory environment. Group policy knowledge essential.
Act as a technical escalation resource for the help desk and other IT personnel in support of the 24 x 7 needs of the enterprise.
Assure continuous operations by maintaining high-availability systems. Coordinate downtime with other technical resources and business stakeholders.
Monitor and maintain backup procedures for all server and network systems.
Work closely with IT management to evaluate and recommend infrastructure additions and enhancements.
Manage and document infrastructure projects and support issues in the Track-It help desk system.
Assist in developing and maintaining technical documentation.
Participate in the on call rotation.
Related duties such as assisting with audio/visual, smart phones or other corporate technology systems.
Primary technology skills required: Citrix XenApp 5.x or later, switching & routing, VMWare ESXi 5.x, HP servers, Microsoft Active Directory & Group Policies, Windows Server 2003 & 2008, DNS, DHCP, SMTP, TCP/IP
Other applicable skills: NetApp SAN (iSCSI & NFS), Cisco routers, switches, firewalls (ASA), & wireless, Symantec Endpoint Protection & Mail Security Gateway, Microsoft Exchange 2010, Web proxies (IronPort and/or Barracuda)
Not required but are a plus: Citrix products such as Provisioning Services, Secure Gateway, Netscaler, Branch Repeater, and XenDesktop. VoIP, Microsoft IIS, NetApp software products (SnapMirror, SnapVault, etc).
Bachelor degree in Information Technology or related discipline.
Industry certifications from Cisco, Microsoft and/or HP not required but will be a plus.
Ability to lift and carry related computer & networking equipment.
Ability to climb ladders and stairs.
Must possess a valid driver’s license and a vehicle for local travel to remote sites.
