SUMMARY

In support of our strategy of building communities, Delta Hotels and Resorts has created a new technology platform designed to be open and flexible, leveraging modern Internet-based technologies to enable better communication. Our new technology is bold, innovative and leading edge.

Reporting to the Manager, Network and Infrastructure, the Senior Network Specialist will be responsible for the design, configuration and management of networks (LAN/WAN/Wireless), hardware and telecomm equipment across all hotels and offices. Equipped with the latest technology and systems management tools, the person in this role will be empowered to deliver exceptional service, learn new skills and be a part of a truly innovative team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Configure, monitor and maintain the Delta Hotels and Resorts network environment, including network devices outers, switches etc.)

Acts as an expert ( tier-3 ) resource for all network related problems

Pro-actively monitor/maintain network performance, network capacity and security issues

Participate and provide direction on system design and implementation

Manage the implementation of a brand-wide wireless Internet solution

Direct third party providers on solution requirements

Act as the point-person during failures of any network component, subsystem and/or application component.

Coordinate troubleshooting, investigative, triage, and problem resolution activities with the Delta systems team and relevant vendors

Manage emerging telephony projects

Prioritize tasks and manage multiple priorities

Mentor network analysts on complex issue resolution or advanced request fulfillment

Provide direction and subject-matter expertise to a regional technology support organization

Conduct technical research on system upgrades to determine feasibility, cost, time required, and compatibility with current systems infrastructure

Provide 7×24 on-call support for the network environment

Participates in the development of RFIs, RFPs and criteria of evaluation of vendor proposals, products and services

Works on the implementation of new networking initiatives and creates and maintains the appropriate technical documentation

Assess and advocate for standardization where feasible

Continuous improvement on the overall operation to enhance RAS eliability, availability and serviceability), reduce overall TCO and better processes with other groups

Thorough knowledge of data networking systems, protocols, operation, security, design and analysis

Thorough knowledge of network/server management, security, access, authentication, data integrity, operating environment, requirements and physical security

Considerable knowledge of common operating systems, hardware, peripheral and applications

Keeps professional skills updated and consistent with current information systems and networking technology

Technical Requirements:
Expert with IP subnetting (VLANs) and IP management

Routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, Layer 2 switching)

Switching architecture and protocols (VLANs, VTP, Trunking, Port-channeling, Spanning Tree)

WAN access implementations (Frac-T1, DSL, ATM, LAN-x, Gig-E etc) and carrier backbone technologies (MPLS)

TCP/IP and Routing summarization

Network Authentication and Security (ACE, IPSec, Key Management, RADIUS, TACACS+)

VPN Technology (IPSec, DMVPN, Key Management, Client & Site-to-site and remote access solutions)

Traffic management and Prioritization experience (QoS, Dynamic Routing, etc.)

Next generation firewall configuration, access control lists and DMZ enhancements ( Cisco ASA, PIX etc. )

Load balancing and failover technologies ( HSRP, VRRP etc. )

Network management tools (i.e. PRTG, SolarWinds, etc.)

VoIP systems implementation experience

Wireless network technologies (WAP, WLC, WCS) and integration with 3rd party PKI

Conduct Wireless Site surveys. Design, develop and document Wireless Site Survey documentation identifying what each wireless site survey must include (at a minimum) and the purpose/value different types of surveys provide followed by Wireless infrastructure implementation

Advanced knowledge of the following network devices:
All Cisco/HP routers, switches, firewalls/Cisco ASA, Juniper VPN concentrators and Cisco wireless controllers

Intrusion Protection Systems

Radius Servers

Nortel/MiTel/Cisco PBX

QUALIFICATIONS

Professional Qualifications/Education/Experience:
Diploma or Degree in Computer Science/Computer Engineering/Technology

5+ years of hands-on experience in a large complex Information Systems Infrastructure environment(s).

Comprehensive experience configuring and managing a full suite of network appliances outers, switches, firewalls, load balancers etc.) across multiple locations

Practical experience deploying and managing wireless networks

Significant and wellounded experience with a full suite of infrastructure technology, including servers & appliances

Familiarity with Cisco network solutions and product suite

Experience managing telephony projects and equipment (PBX / I.P. systems)

Advanced TCP/IP networking knowledge

Hands-on experience building and configuring network hardware

CCNP certification is a must have

CWNA, CCNA/CCNP (Wireless) will be an asset

Experience with Juniper VPN concentrators will be an asset

Microsoft MCSA / MCSE certifications on the 2003/2008 platform will be an asset
