Title: Senior Mechanical Engineer – Honeywell Sensing & Control, Dallas, TX

Location: TX-Richardson

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar degree from an accredited college or university
  • 8 experience in area of design, theoretical, and computer aided analysis.
  • 8 years of experience performing detailed stress and performance analysis of electromechanical systems.
  • 5 years of experience working with an FEA based software package such as ANSYS or equivalent.
  • 2 years of experience performing analysis on gas/fluid flow through assemblies

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master of Science degree in Engineering or science from an accredited college or university
  • Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Product development experience in sensors or a related field
  • Experience of lab testing physical structures to validate simulation results and models
  • Advanced knowledge of ANSYS.
  • Advanced knowledge of MathCAD.
  • Experience designing and modeling micro electromechanical devices.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt
  • An emphasis in analysis methods and simulation
  • Ability to visualize mechanics of solutions and translate them into manufacturable 3-D structures.

As Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for the theoretical modeling and analysis of silicon sensor structures plus the hands-on evaluation of those structures in the design lab. You will also work with wafer fab personnel to take in-process stress measurements in order to improve process flows or propose new design structures that better match existing flows. You will also put together lab based test environments to characterize, stress test and data log prototype structures to validate the models and improve the design.

As a top candidate, you will be an experienced mechanical engineer with hands on experience of lab testing for validating and improving theoretical models.

Technical competencies:

  • Competent in classical methods of structural analysis as a foundation for using computer aided systems.
  • Experience performing Finite Element Analysis (FEA) of components, sub-assemblies, and ultimately the package level assembly to determine stress, strain, and natural frequencies related to drop, vibration, and shock performance.
  • Performed analysis in the areas of linear and non-linear materials, structural analysis, thermal steady state and transient analysis, the effects of mechanical interactions/loading induced by thermal changes, and evaluated designs in static and dynamic states.
  • Engineering Analysis, Design and characterization of silicon sensor die and package assemblies.
  • Knowledge of modeling fluid/gas flow and performing thermal and fluidic analysis.
  • Assess theoretical and computer aided model results against specifications and requirements.
