Research Engineer – Battery Management Systems

Your Responsibilities
Responsible for development and transfer to customers of advanced, electrochemistry-based algorithms for battery management system software. Interfaces with electrochemists to gain understanding of salient features of detailed electrochemical aging and performance models.
Incorporates these features into a control-oriented setting. Derives control and estimation algorithms based on these control-oriented models. Interfaces and drives the interaction with academic partners developing control theory to handle very complex electrochemical-based control-oriented models of intercalation battery performance. Interfaces with academic and industrial partners in developing control models for new types of energy storage systems for the transportation segment. Interfaces with the customer, academic development partners to ensure proper acceptance and successful transfer of developed algorithms
Your competencies and qualifications
Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical engineering, or Aerospace engineering. In-depth knowledge of control methods, control and estimation in complex nonlinear systems. Demonstrated the application of control-oriented approaches to at least 3 different classes of physical systems. Proven research track record with excellent publication record. Strong problem solving skills. Excellent communication skills
Bonus points for Industrial research experience in real application settings.
