Job Description:
DSD Laboratories Inc has an immediate need of hiring a
Network Engineer to work at the Veteran’s affair in
Philadelphia, PA
DoD Clearance required

Major Duties Description:
Provide engineering support in planning and implementing
network for convergence technologies. Use “network
monitoring” tools to identify and isolate the root cause
of network issues. Monitor, troubleshoot, and provide
software support for the network infrastructure
(including routers and core switches), using Solarwinds.
Support the Cisco Network Collector (CNC) by maintaining
IP addresses. Plan and implement network port security.
Perform troubleshooting analysis of servers,
workstations, and associated systems. Work with support
vendor or original equipment manufacturer (OEM) to
resolve configuration, operational, or implementation
problems. Analyze, develop and execute remediation
strategies for network issues. Provide configuration
management and network configuration maintenance for all
LAN infrastructure and Convergence Technology (CT),

including:

  • Routers (70 devices)
  • Switches (1,200 devices)
  • Wireless network (60 wireless controllers and 450

access points (AP))

  • Internet Protocol (IP) Phones (provide overall

guidance)

  • Video Conference (60 devices)

Provide Tier 2 help desk support on LAN infrastructure
and CT, working with local IT staff to analyze,
diagnose, and present resolution to problems. Provide
network subject matter expertise to ensure the rapid
resolution to network issues Provide help desk support
for the three (3) network support centers, the
Information Technology Centers (ITCs), and leadership as
production level issues arise. Develop and execute
remediation steps to address network issues and return
the LAN to normal operations.
Administer network workstations, utilizing one or more
TCP/IP or non-TCP/IP networking protocols and/or one or
more UNIX-based or non-UNIX based operating systems.
Evaluate and/or recommend purchases of computers,
network hardware, peripheral equipment, and software.
Perform and/or oversee configuration management software
and application development, installation, and upgrades.
Plan, then implement network security, including
building firewalls, applying cryptography to network
applications, managing host security, file permissions,
backup and disaster recovery plans, file system
integrity, as well as adding and deleting users.
Investigate, recommend, and install enhancements and
operating procedures that optimize network availability.
Develop materials on Network Management Suite (NMS),
Solarwinds, which can be used in training execution.
Deliver training as needed. Plan and implement a
configuration management system using Computer
Associates Uni-center.

Experience:

  • Experience as a Cisco Certified Network Professional

(CCNP), Cisco Certified Design Expert (CCDE).

  • Experience in providing network configuration

management and network configuration maintenance
support.

  • Experience in planning and implementing network port

security

  • Experience in providing Tier II Helpdesk Support with

a Network Security Operations Center (NSOC)

  • Experience in implementing a network configuration

management system

  • Experience in providing Network IT related training

Education: Undergraduate: Major study-electrical or
electronic engineering, mathematics, physics, public
utilities, statistics, computer science,
telecommunications management, information systems
management or other fields related to the position.
Desired Certifications: Cisco Certified Network
Professional (CCNP), Cisco Certified Design Expert
(CCDE), Certified Information System Security
Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security
Manager (CISM), or GIAC Security Leadership
Certification (GLSC).
