Chevron is accepting online applications for the position of Network Design Engineer located in Houston, TX & Covington, LA through February 8, 2013 at 11:59 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time).
This position is for a high caliber network engineer to deploy, implement and support a variety of network and security solutions. The Engineer/Analyst must be able to provide design, configuration, deployment and operational maintenance of network technologies to ensure continuous availability of secured and reliable network services to both internal and external Chevron global customers. The position requires extensive experience with Cisco and Juniper firewalls, IPT, wireless LAN and other network related devices and configurations.
Position Details:
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
Will be configuring several different technologies of Cisco and Juniper network switches, routers, firewalls, and other network appliances.
Responsible for the design, deployment and maintenance of large scale wireless networks and wireless network security including office wireless networking (e.g. 802.11a/b/g/n)
Duties include the standardization of network environments including standard design templates.
Experience with troubleshooting Ethernet based networks and TCP/IP based services
Configuring and troubleshooting IP routing protocols including BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, and MPLS.
Design, configuration and troubleshooting firewalls and other security related devices.
The analyst must be well versed in transmission systems (i.e. Telco circuits, Satellite, Private microwave and wireless), routing layers/protocols, IP addressing, subnets, QoS, performance monitoring, VPN, Voice Systems, Firewalls and Wireless technologies.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS or related field
5+ years of relevant experience
Cisco certifications (CCNA,CCIE) or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications:
Requires performing multiple tasks and communicating with many internal customers simultaneously
Some travel required
The individual must have strong customer relationship skills.
Ability to think in a logical and systematic way to solve problems, incorporate suggestions and create solutions.
