The Innovation and Advanced Technologies Division encourages the pursuit of innovation, working with the Research and Development community to facilitate the transfer of technology to entrepreneurs, and supporting business development and growth through the creation of new companies and new products. We are responsible for overseeing efforts to support and build Alberta’s technology sector and attract international investments, collaborations and commercialization investments to the province.
Alberta is one of the world’s most progressive centres of innovation and the province is now home to a number of leading Information and Communication Technology (ICT) clusters. Reporting to the Branch Head, ICT, you are the leader within the GOA for industry and technology development and commercialization in the software and information technology sectors. Through your strategic relationships with industry you will lead and manage technology industry development, research, and investment attraction related activities that assist in the development and growth of Alberta’s ICT industry, including communications, wireless technology, software, information technology, and digital media. Key to this role is collaboration as you initiate and complete cross-sector initiatives and leverage intelligence through Post-Secondary Institutes, research institutes and other levels of government.
Your attention to detail with strong analytical, project management and leadership skills along with excellent communication skills, both verbally and written will support your ongoing liaison and collaborative partnerships with clients and industry stakeholders. In addition, be a strategic thinker, results orientated, and have strong problem solving and judgment skills. Utilized as an expert resource with technical background and knowledge in ICT this role has a strong “systems thinking” element to it. The position operates with a high level of autonomy and a high degree of accountability for achieving outcomes for Alberta’s economic development initiatives that foster prosperity.

A University degree in a related field with a minimum of three (3) years progressively responsible experience is required. Demonstrated leadership, systems thinking and stakeholder engagement experience is required. Previous experience in ICT, strategy development, project management, business development, and working with international industry stakeholders or academia would be an asset. Equivalencies will be considered.
$2,936.39 – $3,951.53 bi-weekly
(approximately $76,639 to $103,134 annually)
