Apex Systems, the 3 rd largest IT staffing Solutions firm in the country has an opportunity for a FPGA Design Engineer. This is 1 year + (expected to be multi-year) W2 contract opportunity with a DoD company located in Burlington/Lexington area of Massachusetts. This role is joining a team to develop digital signal processing FPGA firmware for use in wireless communications systems.

Please note the applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance. In addition the applicant must have 3+ years of relevant FPGA experience, preferably heavily focused on the design side, as well as some involvement in verification. Responsibilities of this FPGA Design Engineer include:

• In-depth familiarity with Xilinx FPGAs, particularly the Virtex family, and in-depth knowledge of Chipscope, plan ahead, vivado, Synplicity, XST, Xilinx ISE, Modelsim, Linux, laboratory test equipment, and source/revision control tools.
• Develop implementation architectures from requirements documents or high level specifications.
• Communicate and work with teams on multiple-engineer chip developments.
• Use and maintenance of legacy IP.
• Troubleshoot designs operating within an integrated system.
• Wireless communications systems, digital signal processing, and/or communication.
• Design and debug of complex circuit boards.

Skills Requirements of FPGA Design Engineer:

• Multiple years of experience of FPGA firmware development
• Proficient in all aspects of FPGA design and verification
• Experience with VHDL code development
• In-depth familiarity with Xilinx/Virtex
