Field Applications Engineer, Wireless Communications, Cambridge
We are searching for an Engineer with excellent communication and organisation skills to provide rapid response regarding technical assistance to customers on prototype products.
The Engineer will provide support by email and phone, as well as through customer meetings.
Prioritise support requests and manage provision of technical assistance using a ‘virtual team’ of technical support staff from European Sales FAEs, Factory Application Engineers and R&D.
Support European Distribution by way of FAE technical training, and through technical assistance related to Distribution Design Win pipeline.
The role will include but not be limited to:
Manage the technical support email in-box
Drive through to completion customer issues that are opened under the bug tracking system.
Create demonstration code and measure results
Gather and analyse logs
Review PCB layouts and make recommendations
Supporting the sales team with technical conference calls
Escalate critical issues in a timely fashion
Host selected customers when they visit for technical review or debugging sessions
Monitor the pipeline to ensure technical support is focused on the right customers
Contribute to the delivery of technical training
Develop exciting new consumer products
There will be the opportunity to travel for on-sight customer support and training
We are searching for an Engineer with the following profile:
Good and relevant degree or equivalent
A very high standard of written and verbal technical communication
Excellent organisation skills
Expertise in hardware or software development, debug and test relating to embedded and/or consumer electronics products
Experience of developing and / or supporting wireless communications devices
Ability to own problems and take fixes to conclusion
Ability to make decisions with limited supervision, and where no obvious process is available
A good team player, able to easily form relationships within the team, with other divisions of the company and with external customers and partners
Proven record in delivering customer-facing support, both on-site and remotely via email and telephone would be a plus
Appreciation of the commercial issues surrounding the provision of support
Programming interest will be a plus
