General Atomics Electronic Systems, Inc. (GA-ESI) provides equipment and services to the nuclear industry (radiation monitoring systems and TRIGA reactors), oil industry (filtration and automation) and energy storage industry (capacitors and switches).
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Engineering Intern at our affiliate company, General Atomics Electronic Systems.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supports systems engineering in developing electronic and hard copy ECN(s), reports, records, diagrams and charts.
Assists in analyzing, investigating and resolving system engineering problems.
Tasks may also include design change management such as shadowing the SE responsible for running engineering review boards and helping to prepare review agendas, presenting and defending design changes under supervision of the change lead, and assisting in determining the impacts to all parts of the system from proposed design changes
With direction, this position will learn to analyze the development and processing of deviation requests and change requests with respect to requirements verification, then develop a detailed process flow chart that identifies both efficiencies and inefficiencies, and propose revisions to enhance effectiveness and efficiency
Performs other duties as assigned or required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Typically requires enrollment as an Electrical Engineering undergraduate or graduate student at a recognized College or University. May substitute equivalent experience obtained through school projects, internships or work experience that is directly related to the professional field. Must possess: (1) the ability to understand new concepts and apply them accurately; (2) ability to follow general and detailed instructions as well as organizational policy and procedures; (3) Strong communications skills (writing, listening, speaking) and interpersonal skills to enable effective interface with limited internal professionals; (4) ability to work independently or in a team environment; and (5) basic computer skills.
Availability during school 16-20 hrs/week and during summer 40 hrs/week.
