Position Details

JDSU is looking for an Embedded Software Developer to join our advanced and innovative 3G/4G/LTE-Advanced product development team in downtown Vancouver, BC. JDSU’s Vancouver offices are located in the city’s vibrant downtown core, steps away from the Robson Street shopping district and the Burrard rapid transit station. Our local team enjoys a friendly atmosphere, group activities (from ice skating to rock climbing), gym access, and the city’s trademark, stunning mountain views.

You will be a key part of a multidisciplinary team dedicated to enhancing and extending industry-leading next generation wireless products. Our products extend through all protocol layers from the physical layer up through the application layer. Working closely with experts in the telecommunications domain in a fast paced environment, these challenging positions offer excellent opportunities for personal and professional growth.

You will be involved with designing, implementing and enhancing algorithms and software platforms for communication systems. Responsibilities will also include optimizing system performance on a software defined radio platform. Multiple full-time positions are available at all experience levels; contract positions are also available.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience in real-time programming
  • Experience in developing and optimizing complex dynamic systems
  • Proven analytic and problem solving skills
  • Strong track record of completing deliverables on time and with high quality
  • Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills
  • Proactive, willing to take initiative and seek challenges
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to understand the big picture whilst taking care of the details
  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering or similar disciplines

It is preferred that the candidates also possess some of the following skills:

  • General communication concepts such as MIMO, turbo decoding, incremental redundancy, hybrid ARQ, open and closed loop feedback control, power control, and automatic gain control (AGC)
  • Experiences in digital signal processors and/or the use of the fixed-point digital signal processors
  • Knowledge of either UMTS or LTE technology
  • Modeling of wireless MIMO channels
