CONTRACTS SPECIALIST – Columbia, MD

In this position, the Contracts Specialist manages activities related to the terms and conditions of every project-related contract. Serves as primary facilitator/negotiator for company to resolve issues related to terms of agreements.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Contracts: Works directly with contractors and subcontractors to mediate issues.
Perform liaison work with inter-departments to uphold company’s contractual obligations and limit liability exposure. Coordinates and assembles comments to all scope, schedule, risk management, and safety concerns.
Monitors Subcontract Administration, Contract Administration and Compliance.
Monitors receipt of all fully executed contractual documents; Contracts and Change Orders.
Facilitate the resolution of disputes with sub-contractor to ensure optimal contract compliance.
Plan and conduct meetings to ensure compliance with established contracts and implement new policies and keep Project Managers abreast of current changes of contracts.
Anticipate customer needs, changes to those needs, and the impact to existing contracts or development of future contracts; monitor inflation and its impact on forecasting.
Evaluate contractor performance through review of reports and customer feedback; resolve issues and implement solutions to address performance.
EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION & TRAINING:
Related experience in the wireless telecommunications construction industry.
Bachelors Degree, emphasis on accounting, financial analysis, or legal degree; advanced degree or certifications a plus.
SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
Knowledge of contract negotiation, procurement, and purchasing systems. Strong financial acumen as it relates to business related calculations that measure cost and performance of projects.
Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, customer service, and negotiation skills
Experience in preparing and defending construction claims, including time and cost related changes
Computer software includes: MS Windows; MS Office , MS Word, MS Excel
REQUIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:
Must be able to work in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment that requires personal accountability
Must have excellent MS Excel skills
Superb written and verbal communication skills are needed to interact with customers, vendors, and other departments
Must have strong analytical skills with emphasis on financial reporting and management
Excellent problem solving abilities and the skill to manage multiple time sensitive assignments
