Purpose of Position
Manage and maintain Curtis-Straus Certification Programs.
Objectives
Responsible for the management of all aspects of the Curtis-Straus Product Safety Certification (CSPSC) program, including but not limited to OSHA NRTL and Canadian Standards Council (SCC) programsCurtis-Straus Telecom, Wireless and Energy Efficiency certification programs, including but not limited to TCB (FCC, IC, Hong Kong, Signapore), EPA ENERGY STAR, Canada NRCan. Maintain and expand related accreditations for the Littleton Lab as well as monitoring the compliance of and enforcing all program rules with partner test labs, inspection centers and inspectors.
Major Roles & Responsibilities
1. Certification
Development, maintenance and improvement of Certification Programs (including future program expansions).
Principle contact for Certification Programs with accreditors and governing bodies internationally.
Responsible for compliance with the certification program rules.
Certifier and Reviewer for projects worldwide.
Responsible for external laboratory certification audits as directed by program.
Responsible for monitoring and developing programs at external labs.
Responsible for certification and withdrawal of clients within the program.
2. Inspections/Surveillance
Coordination of factory inspections and surveillance activities worldwide.
Train and inspect witnessing for factory inspectors worldwide.
Approve and review inspection and surveillance reports.
Certification and withdrawal of factories within the program.
Coordinate market sampling
3. Customer Focus duties
Assist in regularly surveying internal and external customers to evaluate and improve the certification program and overall client services.
Assist in resolution of client complaints as required.
Promote certification (both internally and externally) to increase business
Provide internal and external program training, hold informational seminars and attend industry conferences
Negotiate supplier agreements with regards to surveillance and other certification activities
Negotiate pricing and partner agreements with outside test laboratories
4. Other duties and responsibilities
Keep current with regulations, accreditations, certifications, and registrations pertaining to Certification Department.
Create and maintain certification and surveillance price lists
Create and maintain local standard operating procedures for all certification programs
Support certification audits by accreditors and provide and implement corrective actions to deficiencies
Provide support to laboratory regarding projects intended to be certified
Provide support to Sales regarding customers who need certification services
Manage and maintain all policies and procedures pertaining to independence and ownership conflict of interest
Create and maintain certification related trademarks and registrations

Familiarity with laboratory instrumentation and equipment pertaining to Certification evaluations

Strong electrical engineering skills
Familiarity of Quality Assurance concepts, processes, and systems and the demonstrated ability to implement them
Client interaction skills: Demonstrated ability to work with customers, determine their requirements, help secure additional business, define and assist in solving problems, and generally ensure their total satisfaction with BV
Problem solving skills including the ability to lead groups of diverse people through a problem solving process
The ability to organize and prioritize daily activities and workload.
Effective oral and written communications skills including the ability to deliver presentations to in-house and client/vendor audiences
Ability to work well with peers
Required Experience
Experience and Educational Background Required for the Job
Minimum of a BS technical degree, preferably in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
Quality Assurance knowledge desired.
Ten (10) years of progressive experience in the testing or certification of electrical products
Demonstrated experience leading a diverse group of people
Demonstrated experience in dealing directly with customers and auditors.
