You will sell product design, development and technology consulting services to clients in the Medical Devices and related healthcare industries, who are developing products and services based upon data and connectivity. You will develop and maintain an awareness of emerging needs in the marketplace by becoming the internal expert on the Connected Health market and feeding this knowledge back to the Cambridge Consultants’ technical teams to facilitate development of new services and products.

The Medical Technology Practice in the UK and USA undertakes the development of innovative medical devices and equipment from concept, through to prototype manufacture, to new product introduction, often incorporating considerable technical challenges. The growth of wireless internet services and has allowed Medical Device companies to develop an entirely new range of product and move into a more service oriented, data rich environment. In addition companies outside of the traditional medical device space have been expanding their consumer health and wellness product portfolio and developing medical device-like products. We undertake development projects in three principal focus areas:

Drug delivery devices

Diagnostic Products and Technologies

Surgical products and medical systems

We combine highly creative lateral thinking with excellent technical skills and broad industry experience to form powerful development teams. Our work ranges from complete product developments to providing consulting services for our clients on their technology, strategy or development processes.

The division undertakes both client funded and internally funded projects.

Specific Responsibilities

Work under guidance of the Global Head of Business Development for Medical Technology Practice

Identify companies who are in or trying to enter the Connected Health Space

Develop strong commercial relationships with C level senior executives in potential client companies

Identify and convert sales opportunities, working with and guiding technical teams in our facilities in Cambridge UK & Boston MA USA through to sales conversion

Develop and lead commercial initiatives, coordinating and guiding other business development, project management and technical staff

Co-ordinate the Connected Health activities across the whole of Cambridge Consultants, including initiatives within our Wireless and Consumer businesses.

Provide market information to the technical teams to support product and service development

Actively participate and speak at key industry conferences and technical forums to raise awareness of Cambridge Consultants capabilities

Be or become recognized as a key player in the Connected Health market representing Cambridge Consultants

Lead the technical teams into new business opportunity areas

Interact with teams across the broad technical base of Cambridge Consultants at UK and US offices and laboratories, which includes:

Mechanical engineering

Electronics and software

Product and industrial design

Human factor engineering

Informatics

Manufacturing technology and scale up

Process automation

Life sciences

Regulatory affairs

Minimum Requirements

Proven success and track record in developing business in the product development sector with contract values greater than £1M per annum

Strong technical background, experienced and comfortable with selling complex technical consultancy services

Significant commercial experience in Connected Health and medical product development, sales experience with a design and development services company or sales experience with a medical products company

Knowledge and experience of product development in a highly regulated environment

Experience of the growth of the Connected Health Market in both USA and Europe

Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills (including working across multiple sites)

A degree in a relevant engineering or physical sciences subject is essential required

Master’s degree in a related field, desirable but not essential

There may be approximately 50% travel required (including international travel)
