The University Hospital of North Staffordshire is a teaching Trust serving over 3 million people. An ambitious £300 million modernisation scheme is nearing completion which will relocate all the innovative services of this dynamic teaching hospital and Keele Medical School on to a single site. UHNS has been designated as a major trauma centre across the West Midlands and North Wales. As a centre of expertise we can offer you scope to further develop and progress your career. We also have close links with our on-site Undergraduate Medical School and the School of Pharmacy at Keele University.

This is an exciting time for the Pharmacy Directorate. We have recently moved to a brand-new, modern, purpose-built pharmacy department within the new hospital and we have recently re-engineered our services to improve our delivery of patient focused pharmaceutical care. This includes a new pharmacy computer system, integration of a robot into the dispensary, implementation of one stop dispensing and the imminent introduction of wireless electronic medicines management at the patient’s bedside.
We provide an exciting and sociable working environment and are looking for forward thinking, enthusiastic and highly motivated staff to join our highly regarded team.

You will work with and assist Senior Pharmacy Support Workers, Technicians and Pharmacists in providing a wide range of pharmaceutical services.

Duties will include:
• Reception duties
• Dispensing of items to patients in the dispensary after a suitable period of training and assessment.
• Assembly of orders for distribution to wards and dispensaries
• Provision of a top up service of stock medicines to nominated wards
• The receipt and supply of medicines and associated pharmaceutical items to wards and departments
Hours of work (approx. 3.6 hours) between 11.00am and 3.00pm Monday to Friday with a one in five weekend commitment (currently four hours).
