The University Hospital of North Staffordshire (UHNS) is a large teaching Trust located in Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire serving over 3 million people.
The Pharmacy Directorate has recently moved into a brand-new modern purpose-built department within the new hospital and we have been re-engineering our services to improve our delivery of patient focused pharmaceutical care. This includes integration of a robot into the dispensary; implementation of one stop dispensing, introduction of wireless electronic medicines management at the patients bedside and out-sourcing of our out-patient dispensing service.
The cancer clinical pharmacy service is delivered from a satellite pharmacy located directly within the UHNS Cancer Centre. The Cancer Centre consists of an oncology ward, a level 3 haematology ward, a chemotherapy day unit and a radiotherapy department.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated pharmacist to join our well established team of cancer pharmacists. As well as in-patient and day ward medicines management you will also be involved with the clinical verification and supply of systemic anti-cancer therapies for oncology, haematology and clinical trial patients and will work closely within a multi-disciplinary team to deliver a high quality clinical service to all cancer patients. You will be a registered pharmacist and will ideally have previous oncology or haematology experience.
This role offers an opportunity to work within a highly dynamic department delivering an innovative pharmacy service including the implementation of electronic chemotherapy prescribing, the provision of a wide portfolio of cancer clinical trials and development of pharmacists as independent prescribers within chemotherapy clinics.
There may be some flexibility when agreeing the required working days as long as the agreed schedule supports the busier clinic times, there may also be the opportunity to work the required hours over 2 long days
